Common questions
Is Quiver Words free?
Yes. Quiver Words is free to play in your browser, with no sign-up and no in-app purchases. The Android and iPhone apps are on the way and will be supported by ads, some of them optional (for example, watching a short ad to get a gem).
How do I play?
Drag a tile and it follows your finger, gliding through as many empty squares as you like, even around corners. You can also tap a tile to slide it (and its whole line) into the nearest empty square. When 3 or more letters line up in a row (reading left to right) or a column (reading top to bottom), swipe across them to spell the word. Real words shatter, score points and uncover part of the hidden picture. The first time you tap Play, a hands-on tutorial walks you through every move and special tile. You can replay it anytime from How to play on the main menu.
How do I pass a level?
Clear 70% of the tiles. A Finish button appears once you pass. Clear 85% for 2 stars, or every tile for 3 stars. You can keep playing after you pass to earn more stars.
What do the special tiles do?
Arrow tiles fire across the board when you use them in a word and clear every tile in their path. ? tiles show their letter once you slide them. ✦ tiles count as any letter but score 0. Gold tiles drop a gem when you use them in a word.
What are gems?
Swap lets you trade the places of any two tiles. Hint lights up a word you can make and numbers its letters in order. You find gems in gold tiles, earn one for a 3-star clear the first time, and get a Swap gem every 5th level.
I'm stuck. Is every level solvable?
Yes. Every level is built from real words and then mixed up using normal slides, so the whole board can always be cleared. If you're stuck, try a Hint gem, or tap the menu button and choose Restart level for a fresh start on the same board.
Why wasn't my word accepted?
Quiver Words accepts about 51,000 everyday English words of 3 to 9 letters. Proper names, abbreviations and some rare words aren't on the list, and offensive words have been removed. If you think a common word is missing, email us and we'll take a look.
My progress disappeared. Can you restore it?
Your level, scores and gems are saved on your device only, so clearing your browser data (or uninstalling the app) resets them. We can't restore local progress.
There's no sound.
Check that Sound is on in the main menu or pause menu, and that your device isn't muted or in silent mode. On iPhone, the ring/silent switch can mute web audio. Sound starts after your first tap, because browsers block sound until you interact with the page.
Can I turn off vibration?
Yes. Tap Vibration on the main menu or the pause menu. Vibration works on most Android phones. iPhone browsers don't support it.
Reporting a bug
Email support@arrowstack.app and include:
- your device and operating system (for example, "Pixel 8, Android 15" or "iPhone 15, iOS 18"), or your browser if you play on the web
- the level where it happened
- what you expected and what happened instead
- a screenshot or screen recording, if you can
Deleting your data
Quiver Words doesn't use accounts, and the current version doesn't send any game information to our servers, so there's nothing for us to delete. Everything the game saves (level, scores, gems and settings) lives only on your device. You can delete it by clearing your browser's site data for quiverwords.app or, for the apps, by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage.
For information collected by our ad provider in the apps, Google AdMob, see the choices in our Privacy Policy. Questions about your data? Email support@arrowstack.app.
